A YEAR OF HUNTING
First Slovak bowhunting movie, which is also totally unique when it comes to its essence in the context of European outdoor and hunting cinematography. The film A YEAR OF HUNTING is a tale of six hunters who have chosen to pursue hunting by using a bow and arrows and by doing so, to return to the very core of what hunting is all about.
The film consists of six individual episodes following bowhunting in Slovakia during a course of twelve months. Individual hunting adventures are presented like puzzles. They are made up of expectations, hopes, euphoria, as well as one’s disappointment realizing that true success can only come with dedicated practice and preparation. Their stories introduce us to their bowhunting experiences as well as them as people -– hunters for whom bowhunting offers an opportunity to learn about themselves and to follow their lifelong dream. The documentary captures hunting for a wild turkey, roe deer, wild boar, red deer, fallow deer, and a mouflon.
